Confinement has been a trauma for many businesses, but the biggest problem is that the new normality does not ensure, therefore, that everything returns to normal … The legendary Italian manufacturer Lamborghini has announced that it is leaving auto shows. A hard blow for this type of event.
Car shows, like any other massive event until the Covid-19 disappears or everyone is vaccinated, demand high sanitary measures, something that goes against the interests of Lamborghini.
Although at the moment there is no auto show in the short term and other brands prefer to be cautious, according to Rebeca Álvarez in TopGear, The Italian manufacturer (which belongs to Volkswagen) has decided to announce that will not participate, definitively, in auto shows.
It seems a decision that, at least for the moment, will not be extended to other brands of Volkswagen. It is true that Lamborghini is very different from the others, with very specific characteristics.
Katia Bassi, head of Marketing and Communications of the company, explains in an interview with Autocar India: “We have decided to abandon auto shows because we believe that having an intimate relationship with the client is key and the shows will no longer be aligned with our philosophy.”
It is an excuse that has not convinced everyone, because it is true that future car shows will have sanitary measures that will include social distance and the absence of “intimate relationship with the client“, but the same is true for private brand events, or even just showroom exposure.
Lamborghini to replace car shows with private events that will help them “to physically reconnect with clients through evenings and special experiences“
It will, however, continue to participate in outdoor events and celebrations, such as the Goodwood Festival and the Pebble Beach Elegance Contest.
