Just because we’re all in lockdown doesn’t mean looking good is no longer a priority. Far from it!
The old adage that if you look good, you feel good is vital to our sense of well being at this difficult time.
And due to the social distancing restrictions, people have no choice but to turn to DIY cosmetic methods.
According to research from one cosmetic surgery advice site, demand for DIY beauty has never been higher.
Flawless.org looked at average monthly search volumes on Google to see what people are searching most when it came to hair and beauty.
Over the past month, there has been 6,600 searches for ‘How to cut your own hair?’
When it comes to hair, it’s clear many of us are getting bored with our current style and want to experiment – with over 12,000 searches on ways to curl hair with straighteners.
Of course DIY haircuts are also popular as we worry about our barnets becoming unmanageable.
Also according to the research, people are Googling ‘make up’ 135,000 times a month.
And we have some very specific beauty goals too – according to the site.
Having nails that make you feel like a Kardashian is a must – with 27,100 average searches for ‘Kim’ Nails’.
Experimenting with different looks has meant searches on ‘how to clean make up sponges DIY’ have increased in recent weeks.
A spokesman for the site added: “One thing that Flawless.org noticed when researching was that, with the current restrictions, people are looking to celebrities and influencers for inspiration more than ever.
“Although Kim’s Nail’s is a popular search term, it’s actually her younger sister Kylie Jenner that is more in demand as an influencer – with over 8,000 searches for her name over the past month. “
YouTube beauty blogger James Charles tops the most searched influencer followed by make-up mogul Kylie, recently named Forbes magazine’s youngest self made billionaire. The 22-year-old has amassed a fortune from her Kylie cosmetics brand.
Other top searches include make up artist Jeffree Star, owner of Jeffree Star Cosmetics and singer Ariana Grande.
